Discipline Policy

A discipline policy has been established, which will be followed by all teachers, assistants, Board of Education members, and the Director of Sunday school. The policy will be posted in all of the classrooms. The policy is as follows:

1st offense - warning (initial instruction)

2nd offense - warning (reissue instruction)

3rd offense - the child will be removed from the classroom to talk with the Director of Sunday school and will be required to write a short essay answering the following questions:

1. What did I do wrong?

2. Why is that wrong?

3. What should I do to make it better?

4. What good things will happen to me when I change my behavior?

Once the essay has been completed, the Director of Sunday school will return the child to class and ask the student to apologize for his or her actions. A copy of the letter will be issued to the teacher and another copy will be mailed to the parents. The parent will also be sent an explanation of the incident. Parents should sign and return the essay to the Director of Sunday school.

The second time that a child is removed from the classroom to write an essay, the parent will be required to meet with the Director of Sunday school to discuss the child’s behavior.

If the child is removed from the classroom for a third time, the parent must attend class with the student the following week.
